Music in Healthcare Settings

CORONAVIRUS: Due to the pandemic, all of Wellspring’s hospital and care home visits are suspended. Thanks to Arts Council England‘s Emergency Response funding, we trialled remote music sessions with Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, and London Road Community Hospital, Derby, and are currently only delivering limited remote sessions for QMC.

Wellspring Music CIC aims to increase wellbeing through engagement in culture, by providing high-quality interactive music in healthcare settings.

An evaluation report on Wellspring’s work can be found here (short version) or here (full version).

Wellspring has been making music with the patients in Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre’s Dementia ward since 2015, and City Hospital’s Stroke wards since 2016. With support from Arts Council England, Nottingham Hospitals Charity and private donations, this work will continue into 2021 and has expanded to include three Older People’s wards and the Critical Care unit.

Wellspring has also worked in specialist dementia care homes Church Farm and Skylarks, and with Air Arts to take music into the Older People’s wards in Derby hospitals.

Wellspring’s work is funded by grant-making trusts, charities and other donations.
